It’s Time for the Denver Broncos to Cut DJ Williams
Denver Broncos linebacker, DJ Williams was convicted of a DWAI (Driving while ability impaired) on Wednesday in a Denver courtroom and faces additional discipline from the NFL. Williams is all ready facing a six game suspension for repeatedly failing drug tests and with the guilty verdict on Wednesday, he is likely facing a ten game suspension in all. We will have to wait and see what the Broncos do but the belief here is that they should cut Williams and move on.
This is only the latest in a string of embarrassing incidents that have included; the failed drug test that we mentioned above, the two DUI charges and Tweeting out part of the playbook a couple of months ago. Anyone of these incidents by themselves could be forgiven if not excused but taken as a whole, it’s past time for the Broncos to say goodbye to Williams.
I’ve heard the argument that Williams is still the Broncos best option at weak side linebacker and I agree with that train of thought, but he’s not going to play for upwards of ten weeks. Then even when he does come back, he’s going to need at least two or three weeks to get in game shape. So now you have him for maybe three games, what’s the point? Of course this is all assuming he doesn’t get in trouble again over those ten weeks because and keep this in mind, he can have zero contact with the team. Williams has all ready shown on countless occasions that he is incapable of policing himself and now he is going to have two and a half months with nothing to do. What are the odds that he stays out of trouble during that time?
The Broncos have stood by Williams long enough and have given him more than enough chances. As talented as Williams is and as thin as the Broncos are at his position, there can be only one outcome. The Denver Broncos must cut DJ Williams!
