So apparently the honeymoon is over between the fans of the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning, boy that was quick! Chad Johnson was married to his wife longer than SOME Bronco fans have stayed with Manning. The majority of fans are still on board with the Broncos and their new quarterback but trust me, there are more than a few who have jumped ship all ready.
Some have even said that trading Tim Tebow was a mistake, did they watch him play versus the New York Giants on Saturday night? Was Manning great? No, but he was 16 for 23 for 177 yards with two interceptions. There were also two big drops, one of which would have been a touchdown. Had those been caught, Manning’s stats would have been 18 for 23 for nearly 200 yards and a touchdown in a half of football. Those are pretty good numbers for someone seeing his first extended action in nineteen months.
Read that last line again, Manning hasn’t played in nineteen months and he threw for almost 200 yards in a half of football. There was one, count them, one bad throw on Saturday night. That was the interception on the pass down the middle to, Joel Dressen. The other interception was tipped, and yes Manning is still responsible for that but go back and look at that play, it’s going to be a touchdown.
Brandon Stokley is wide open and is going to stroll into the end zone. Other than those two passes and one that Manning threw away to avoid a sack, he was on target with every other throw. By the way, his best throw of the night came one play after he got hit.
Denver Bronco fans were willing to forgive throws in the dirt or into the stands from Tebow, but Manning can’t have a half of football to get his rhythm back. Again I’m not talking about most Bronco fans but there are more than a few who are ready to sell their number 18 jerseys and it’s not even September.
Maybe I’m part of the problem because I’ve been talking about how good Manning as looked in camp but this was always going to be a process as my fellow Rant Sports Writer, Craig Moir wrote after the game. There are going to be growing pains, not only because of his time away due to injury but he is also playing on a new team with new teammates. My guess it by October all of this will be a distant memory when Manning is throwing for 300 yards a game but for now, can we just give the guy more than a half to get his game back?

Of course I would say you are right….. and logical and factual. I don’t believe those who bought Manning jerseys are actually selling them after 2 pre-season games. If there are, pls let me know since I would like to buy…. What I noticed are those Tebow fans who were drowned out by cheers for Manning are back in droves… and they sure are enjoying the Manning INTs…
I think the Broncos starters played a solid game against Seattle. The defense played great and despite the two interceptions Manning looked good. Without the drops from his receivers this game could have turned out with a couple touchdowns instead of interceptions. The game was on during my shift at Dish, but since it was a primetime game it was recorded on my Hopper when I got home. I have Primetime Anytime set up so it automatically records all the primetime shows. After I watched the game I am personally still on board with Manning. It is preseason for a quarterback that has not played in the NFL for an entire year. Manning deserves some slack at least through a couple games of the regular season.
Any Denver fan that says trading Tebow for Manning is an idiot. Manning is one of the greatest NFL players ever!!
I’m not a Denver fan but I love Peyton and I’m also glad I got the other Manning as my QB!!
