The Denver Broncos have almost set their practice squad for the 2012 season. For any who do not know, the practice squad consists of eight players who practice with the team but do not play in the games. As of now, the Broncos have signed seven and have one more spot available to use at some point. It’s obviously not as good as being on the active roster but it is the next best thing. Anyone on the practice squad players can be pulled up to the active roster at any given time if there’s an injury, or any other sort of opening.

The practice squad for 2012 is: running back Jeremiah Johnson, guard Wayne Tribue, defensive tackle Slyvester Siliga, tight end Cornelius Ingram, defensive tackle Ben Garland, wide receiver Greg Orton and safety Duke Ihenacho.

The biggest surprise is who is not on the squad, quarterback Adam Weber and wide receiver Gerell Robinson. Robinson could be the last signing but it appears that Weber has decided to move on to opportunities elsewhere. My guess is he sees the writing on the wall with Brock Osweiler being the future and will seek a better fit for him.

As for the squad itself, it makes sense. It’s always good to have depth at running back and defensive line, injuries tend to hit those positions. The Broncos also love Orton and his size at wide receiver, and want to see him develop. Garland has potential to be a solid defensive tackle in the NFL but just needs more time, and now he will get it on the practice squad.

As we’ve mentioned a few times, the roster for the Denver Broncos is going to remain fluid through the weekend. Stay with Rant Sports for all of your updates.
