The 3-0 Detroit Lions roll into Dallas tomorrow in a match-up between NFC teams. Despite the fact that the Lions have not lost Detroit is the underdog for Sunday’s contest.
Detroit has the better numbers across the board, but for some reason the odds makers and “talking heads” refuse to give them respect. A win in Dallas on Sunday changes that.
If the Lions win it would equal their best start in 55 years. This is a franchise that has had more downs than ups.
Underdog is role Detroit is used to, but not one they want to have an association with anymore. Coach Jim Schwartz has repeatedly talked about his team playing a complete game or better football in general.
“We can play better, we need to play better” Schwartz told the media at his Monday press conference.
The win in Minnesota was a sweet one for the Lions not just for the comeback from a 20-0 deficit. It was a road win for Detroit where they’ve struggled so much in the past and it was against a division rival.
“When you get win you’re also putting a loss on one of your division opponents”. Coach Schwartz also told the media.
Detroit’s O-line will have the huge task of stopping DeMarcus Ware and company tomorrow if they want to get the win. This game seems like it is going to be a match-up between each squad’s offensive and defensive lines.
That is the case in most football games, but both teams feature strong defenders who can get to the quarterback. The Cowboys have Ware and the Lions counter with Ndamukong Suh.
So if either one of those defenders gives the opposing quarterback problems it may bode well for their team. Both teams have weapons on offense as well and the wide receiver match-ups will be important in the outcome.
With all that being said the Cowboys are trying to get off to a great start and right the ship from last year’s disappointment. The Lions have already surprised everybody, now they want to prove they belong where they’re at right now.
