2012 NFL Draft If Dont’a Hightower is Available Detroit Lions Should Take Him
If Dont’a Hightower somehow falls in the draft to the Detroit Lions, they must take him with the 23rd overall pick. This is a long shot because other teams that pick higher than the Detroit Lions have the same and added needs to fill in the 2012 draft.
With the expected loss of linebacker Stephen Tullock via free agency, the Detroit Lions will be wanting to fill his void in the Draft. The Detroit Lions have other needs to fill as well. They need to improve their secondary and offensive line. If Dont’a Hightower falls in to the Lions hands the talent Hightower brings on the football field with his abilities, will be more valuable to the Detroit Lions in the first round then any defensive or offensive player available.
Hightower can play every down on defense. He has great speed and tackling ability to help the Lions improve their rush defense. At the same time his knowledge to know where the football on the field at all times, will help him cover receivers that think they are open. Dont’a Hightower will be able to get into the heads of his opponents offense causing them, and every other opponent to change their offensive game plan around him, trying not to allow Dont’a Hightower to disrupt it.
The Detroit Lions will have an even bigger edge going into the 2012 season with Dont’a Hightower playing linebacker for them. Their defense is very good right now. If by chance the Detroit Lions can draft Dont’a Hightower. They would become one of the best defenses in the NFL.
