The Detroit Lions should look in to signing Bart Scott to replace Stephen Tullock at linebacker. Bart Scott will bring a veteran leadership to the young and talented Detroit Lions defense. Scott will turn 32 before the 2012 season begins. Knowing this the Lions should offer him a contract for a couple of seasons that will not hurt their tough salary cap situation.

Scott himself just came off a 2011 season he would like to put far behind him. He had his time on the field cut, yet, he still had decent statistics with 53 tackles, 12 assists, and 4.5 sacks. Bart Scott faced a lot of problems and saw plenty of drama playing for the New York Jets last season.

Bart Scott might jump at the chance to play alongside Ndamukong Suh, Kyle Vanden Bosch and Nick Fairley. The Detroit Lions are very motivated, just coming off their first playoff berth since 1999. Just like Bart Scott their goal is to win a super bowl. The Lions have a great offense led by Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson, with a defense looking to add pieces in the 2012 draft and via free agency. What the Detroit Lions were missing in the 2011 season will improve their defense from a very good defense, to an elite defense in the NFL in 2012.

Having a player such as Bart Scott, who has played on great defenses with great players, would be a great fit to help the Detroit Lions get that much closer to becoming a consistent contender to win the Super Bowl in the near future.
