Detroit Lions DT Nick Fairley Waiting to Hear on Suspension
The Detroit Lions welcomed NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to their training camp on Thursday. DT Nick Fairley is still waiting to hear what his impending suspension length will be.
Fairley has not had his day in court, but even Goodell said that the pattern of behavior and not the court results could be used to push the process along. With a court date that’s not until November it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Fairley will get his suspension before his day in the court room.
The commissioner was at camp to not only visit the Lions organization, but to certainly address some of the off-season issues with the players at fault. Goodell was to speak directly with Fairley as well as running back Mikel Leshoure about their off the field behavior.
Detroit does not know as of yet when Fairley is going to be suspended, but the team is prepping for his loss. The team is getting ready for its preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns on Friday.
It’s is still a mystery whether or not Fairley will miss any preseason games. The feeling is that when Detroit opens up the 2012 season against the St. Louis Rams Fairley will be on the sidelines. He could also miss the Lions second game against the San Francisco 49ers, which would mean he would miss the same amount of time as Leshoure.
