Junior Posted His Second Straight Shutout to Move Hawks Into a Tie for First in CAA Standings
After matching his season-high in saves on Saturday night, Monmouth University men’s soccer goalkeeper Eryk Dymora was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Week by league officials.
Dymora was honored for the first time this season after helping the Hawks secure a 1-0 win at William & Mary. He is the third Hawk to be recognized by league officials this season (Jasen Bottini – Aug. 26, Bastian Hatcher – Sept. 23).
Dymora posted seven saves in the win over William & Mary, with six of the seven stops coming in the second half. It was his sixth shutout of the season for the Hawks and helped Monmouth move into a tie for first place in the CAA standings with just two conference contests remaining.
Dymora now has a 0.67 goals against average and an .860 save percentage in 12 matches for the Hawks. Dymora leads the CAA in goals against average and save percentage this year while ranking second for shutouts per game.

Monmouth Field Hockey GK Charlie Bowman Named CAA Rookie of the Week
Freshman goalkeeper recognized for earning first career victory over No. 12 Iowa
Monmouth University Field Hockey freshman goalkeeper Charlie Bowman was named this week’s Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Bowman started her first two games of her young career this weekend during Monmouth’s road trip in Iowa City and helped lead the Hawks to their biggest win in program history where they knocked off 12th-ranked Iowa on Sunday, 2-1 in a shootout.
The Northern Ireland native was locked in all game long versus the Hawkeyes, making six saves throughout regulation and both overtimes and stopping six of nine Iowa shootout attempts including a massive save in the fifth frame to extend the contest. With the victory, Bowman became just the second freshman goalkeeper to beat the Hawkeyes this season.
The win marks the highest-ranked opponent the Hawks have ever beaten, as well as it being the first win over a Big Ten foe since September 24, 2017 (2-1 OT win vs. Indiana).
Bowman and the Hawks (8-5, 1-2 CAA) return home for a CAA matchup with Towson on Friday, October 18. The game will be broadcast live on FloSports at 3 p.m.
Monmouth Women’s Soccer’s Lauren Bruno Named CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Grad Student Was Honored for the Second Time this Season
After leading a defensive unit that posted its seventh shutout of the season, Monmouth University defender Lauren Bruno was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Defensive Player of the Week by league officials.
Bruno was honored for the second time this season by league officials (Aug. 19 and Oct. 14). Bruno is the second Hawk to be honored multiple times this season (Ashley Lavrich – three-time rookie of the week). It is the ninth time a Hawk has been honored this season by league officials.
Bruno played a key role in the Hawks securing a 1-0 win at Campbell on Thursday night. She led a defensive unit that held the Camels to just three shots in the entire match and none of those shots were on goal.
Bruno picked up an assist on Monmouth’s only goal in the game as she played the ball into the box that led to the score. It was Bruno’s third assist of the season which tied her career-high.
Bruno and the defensive unit have allowed just nine goals in 14 matches this season. She is tied for third on the squad with three assists on the year.
Bruno and the Hawks are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 17 when they host UNCW at 6 p.m.
