With the NHL season already underway, it is never too early to start scouting the waiver wire. Below is a list of some of talent that can quickly help struggling franchises:
C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM – The 2011 first round pick continues to impress with 11 points and the teenager is still available in over 50% of leagues.
C Patrick Sharp, CHI – The “Sharpshooter” has tallied 10 points already and will continue to be one of the main fantasy options in Chi-town.
RW Jason Pominville, BUF – Pominville is an underrated part of the Sabs’ offense and will fill up the stat sheet on a weekly basis.
LW Milan Michalek, OTT – The 26-year old winger has been on fire with a staggering 13 points in this young season.
D Dian Phaneuf, TOR – The defenseman can distribute the puck like a winger and already has 11 points (2 goals and 9 assists). He is a great compliment to Jason Spezza and the veteran is finally completely healthy.
D Brian Campbell, FLA – “Soupy” may not have any goals so far in the year, but his 11 assists make him a strong fantasy contributor.
G Nikolai Khabibulin, EDM – The 38-year old has been resilient throughout his career and is a great fit in Edmonton. He is currently leading the league in GAA (1.12) and save percentage (96.0%), but wins will still be hard to come by for this veteran.
