With only three races left in the Sprint Chase for the Cup, fantasy NASCAR could not be more important. Below is a ranking for the top-ten drivers for the race in Texas:
1. Jimmie Johnson – “J.J.” has 14 top-five finishes on the year and always shines on oval tracks as he only has 1 career road victory.
2. Denny Hamlin – Hamlin amazingly won both races in Texas last year and is a heavy favorite this weekend to be in the winner’s circle.
3. Matt Kenseth – Kenseth won the April race in Texas after leading 169 laps and the veteran has an impressive record at The Great American Speedway with 8 top-five finishes.
4. Carl Edwards – Edwards is leading the sport with 16 top-five finishes and is one of the safer options on a week-to-week basis.
5. Tony Stewart – Stewart won last week at Martinsville and is always a threat to grab the checkered flag.
6. Kyle Harvick – Harvick has cruised to 4 wins already and his heavy foot makes him a contender every time they drop the flag.
7. Jeff Gordon – “J.G.” has rebounded from a couple down races and will finish much higher than his 23rd place finish in April’s grand opening of the Texas track.
8. Kurt Busch – “K.B.” led 50 laps in April’s race and is still overlooked in smaller leagues.
9. Dale Earnhardt Jr. – The most popular driver in the sport still has yet to win a race in 2011 and unfortunately has to compete with the rest of Hendrick Motorsports each race.
10. Brad Keselowski – The Penske driver has been a pleasant surprise this year and has moved up to fourth in points with 2,246.
