Week 17 Fantasy Football Players to Start and Sit
By Adam McGill
Guys to Start:
QB Eli Manning, NYG (vs. DAL) – The “Other Manning” has struggled with only 1 touchdown compared to 4 interceptions this year, but will have a bounce back game against a weak Dallas’ secondary.
QB Alex Smith, SF (@ STL) – Smith will dominate a Rams’ defense that is currently allowing 24.9 points and 360.9 total yards per game against.
RB Ray Rice, BAL (@ CIN) – Rice may be playing the fifth ranked run defense, but expect him to gash the division foe for at least 120 all-purpose yards and a score.
RB C.J. Spiller, BUF(@ NE) – Spiller has picked up right where former starter Fred Jackson left off before he was placed on IR with a broken leg. Spiller has posted 331 rushing yards, 132 receiving yards, and 4 touchdowns in the last four games.
WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, OAK (vs. SD) – The speedster has 326 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in the last four games and is finally living up to his first round potential.
WR Mario Manningham, NYG (vs. DAL) – The “Mann” has scored 4 times in the last six weeks and will help Eli Manning bring the team to the playoffs with a big performance this weekend.
TE Aaron Hernandez, NE (vs. BUF) – Most people will be focused on starting Rob Gronowski this weekend, but Hernandez is an equally good starting option against the weak Bills’ defense.
IDP: J.J. Watt, HOU (vs. TEN) – The former Wisconsin Badger has been improving with each week and will have a breakout game this weekend in Houston.
Guys to Sit:
QB Mark Sanchez, NYJ (@ MIA) – Sanchez has been plagued with turnovers and bad decisions in the last month, so expect more of the same from the “Next Broadway Joe.”
QB Dan Orlovsky, IND (@ JAC) – “Danny O” has thrown at least one touchdown in each of the last four games, but will have a very tough time scoring against a stout Jags’ defense.
RB Steven Jackson, STL (vs. SF) – The 49ers will not allow two backs to score in a row on them, so expect a heavy dose of Patrick Willis and the Boys.
RB LeGarrette Blount, TB (@ ATL) – Blount was riding a hot streak for a while this year, but he has only amassed 125 yards in the last four games.
WR Dez Bryant, DAL (@ NYJ) – Bryant has a tough matchup against one of the best secondary’s in the league, not to mention his quarterback has an injured throwing hand.
WR Nate Washington, TEN (@ HOU) – Washington has been outshined by tight end Jared Cook in recent week and now seems to be the third option in the Titans’ offense.
TE Brent Celek, PHI (vs. WSH) – Celek has enjoyed a bounce back season in the last month, but expect him to struggle against the most athletic set of linebackers in the game.
IDP: Paul Posluszny, JAC (vs. IND) – “Pos” will struggle to post tackles against a team that is constantly behind in games and trying to pass the ball.
