Week 2 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire

This NBA season has already been riddled with injuries, which only makes the waiver wire more important during the course of the season.  Below is my newest compilation of waiver wire players to steal before your competition:

Small Leagues: 8-10 man leagues

PG Jose Calderon, TOR – Calderon was underestimated last year despite averaging 8.9 assists per game and has continued to go noticed so far.  He will be a strong contributor this season, averaging over 12 points and 9 dimes a game already.

SG Jamal Crawford, POR – The Trail Blazers’ do not have many pure scorers, but the veteran has averaged 15 points a game throughout his 12-year career.  He will constantly be among the team’s scoring leaders and will take more shots than anyone else on the floor.

SF Caron Butler, LAC - Butler is not posting the All-Star numbers that he once did in 2007, but he is still having a spectacular season so far.  He will continue to score with quality players like Chris Paul and Blake Griffin running the floor with him.

PF Ryan Anderson, ORL - Anderson may not get the attention that Dwight Howard does in O-town, but the veteran knows how to score with over 19 points a game.

C Al Harrington, DEN – Harrington has shown that he can score in the paint and is finally getting quality minutes down-low.  He will be a typical 15 point-8 board guy for the rest of the year.

Large Leagues: 10-14 man leagues

PG Daniel Gibson, CLE – “Gibby” ended last year as the point guard in Cleveland, but rookie Kyrie Irving quickly got Gibson demoted.  Recently however, Gibson has been making plays even starting a game at shooting guard.  He has value in larger leagues by hitting plenty of 3-pointers and scoring points in bunches.

SG MarShon Brooks, NJ – Brooks has excelled with the injury woes in New Jersey and has scored over 17 points in four of the last five games.

SF Jonas Jerebko, DET – The “Swedish Swingman” has responded well since beginning the year as a starter with 12 points and 7 boards a game.

PF Markieff Morris, PHO – “Eminem” has produced some quality numbers off the bench with 31 points, 15 boards, and 4 3-pointers in the last two games.

 

C Chris Kaman, NO – Kaman has 28 points with 21 rebounds in the last two games and has gotten over 26 minutes on the floor in both games.  He will only get better as the season moves forward, especially since starting center Emeka Okafor is frequently in foul trouble or out with a back injury.
