Week 8 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
By Adam McGill
Here is my latest compilation of free agents to pick up before your competition:
Small Leagues: 8-10 man leagues
PG Norris Cole, MIA – Cole will be the starting point guard with Mario Chalmers out for a couple games with a bruised left hand.
SG Greivis Vasquez, NO – Vasquez has led a dire Hornets offense this month with 12.3 points, 7.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game.
SF Corey Brewer, DEN – In his first start in Denver, Brewer scored 19 points with 2 steals and 5 boards.
PF Drew Gooden, MIL – Gooden has really stepped up since being introduced into the starting lineup. In his last 11 starts he is averaging 17 points, 7.3 boards, and 2.4 assists a game.
C Nikola Pekovic, MIN – “Peko” has been dominant in the month of February by posting 17.1 points and 10.5 boards per game.
Large Leagues: 10-14 man leagues
PG C.J. Watson, CHI – With Rose missing time already with turf toe and back spasms in 2011, Watson is a smart free agent pickup. Watson is averaging 15.6 points, 6.4 assists, and 2.2 3-pointers per game.
SG Daniel Gibson, CLE – Gibson is back in the starting lineup since he is finally at 100%. He will always be a source of points and 3-pointers in deeper leagues.
SF Carlos Delfino, MIL – Delfino is averaging 3.4 3-pointers in the last five games and is a great pickup in deeper leagues.
PF Kenyon Martin, LAC – “K-Mart” is still available in a large number of leagues and with 4 blocks last game, the former Cincinnati star has shown that he can still have fantasy value.
C Ekpe Udoh, GS – Udoh is a great source of blocks, with 33 in his last 15 games, but in that span he did not have a single game where he scored in the double digits in points.
