The Crowne Plaza Invitational has drawn some very strong golfers for this year’s event. The event down in Fort Worth, Texas is always a favorite among fantasy fans, because of the fast greens and beautiful weather. Below is my fantasy rankings for the Crowne Plaza Invitational this weekend:
1. Rickie Fowler – The 23-year old burst on the fantasy scene a couple weeks ago and he has really become a top-tier golfer since then. Fowler won the Wells Fargo Championship and placed second in the Player Championship a couple weeks ago. He will be a very popular pick this weekend in all fantasy formats, as his popularity begins to skyrocket.
2. Jason Dufner – “Duff-man” has really stepped up in the last couple of weeks, as he has won two of his last three tournaments.
3. Hunter Mahan – Mahan has averaged a mediocre 72.3 strokes per round over his last three outings, but still remains a heavy favorite this weekend.
4. Matt Kuchar – Kuchar has amazingly finished in the top-15 in four of his last five tournaments.
5. Bill Haas – Haas finished eighth last year and thirteenth in 2010. He has perfected his drives of the tee boxes here and will have one of the strongest drives the whole tournament.
6. Zach Johnson – Johnson won event in 2010 and the Colonial course is one of his personal favorites.
7. Kevin Na – Na is one of the best putters on the entire tour, something that will keep him competitive in every tournament.
8. Jim Furyk – Furyk has finished 26th and 25th respectably in his last two tournaments, which is disappointing considering that he posted four consecutive top-11 finished before that. The veteran will have a much better round this weekend and should end up around 69 strokes per round.
9. Cameron Tringale – Tringale has finished in the top-ten in three of his last five events.
10. Bo Van Pelt – Van Pelt finished third at the event last year and amazingly finished tenth in 2010. BVP loves the course down in Texas and will have another strong showing to end the month.
