The second week of the fantasy football season is underway, so like every week, I will go over my guys to give the nod, and my guys to show the bench. To help you win this weekend, here are my week 2 fantasy football players to start and sit:
Guys to Start:
QB Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. Cleveland Browns) – Dalton has a much more favorable matchup this weekend, so anticipate on him having at least 200 yards and 2 touchdowns.
RB Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans (@ San Diego Chargers) – Many people have completely given up on CJ2K after only one week of football. However, he can only get better from here, so expect much better numbers from Johnson against the aging Chargers’ defense.
RB Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants (vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Bradshaw proved that he is the main running back in New York last weekend, and expect him to make another statement this Sunday.
WR DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Baltimore Ravens) – Baltimore’s secondary is getting older by the game, so if there is one thing they are susceptible to; it is speed. Jackson is one of the fastest wideouts in the game, so expect Philadelphia to take a couple shots with Jackson downfield, especially if Jeremy Maclin misses the game with a hip pointer.
WR Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City Chiefs (@ Buffalo Bills) – Bowe will be matched up against rookie corner, Stephon Gilmore, all game, so expect Bowe to get the better of the youngster at least once.
TE Jacob Tamme, Denver Broncos (@ Atlanta Falcons) – Tamme’s past rapport with Peyton Manning proved to be helpful last week, as the duo combined for 5 catches for 43 yards and a touchdown. Expect more of the same from Tamme all year long.
IDP: DE Mario Williams, Buffalo Bills (vs. Kansas City Chiefs) – Williams had a less than stellar debut for the Bills in week one, but expect his home opener this weekend to be much more welcoming.
Guys to Sit:
QB Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (@ Philadelphia Eagles) – Flacco was practically elected to the Pro Bowl after last week’s game, but someone should alert the masses that Baltimore still has 15 more games to play. Flacco has a tough road game against one of the most aggressive defenses in football, so expect him to struggle with turnovers all afternoon.
RB Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts (vs. Minnesota Vikings) – Brown may have had a solid performance last week, but he will have a much tougher time finding running lanes against the Vikes’ veteran d-line.
RB Isaac Redman, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. New York Jets) – The Pittsburgh backfield is getting more and more crowded each week, so continue to avoid them if possible.
WR Kenny Britt, Tennessee Titans (@ San Diego Chargers) – Britt may be coming back from suspension this week, but the Titans have already said that they will limit his snaps. It would be better to start him next week, as opposed to his first week back.
TE Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions (@ San Francisco 49ers) – Pettigrew will have a very tough time finding room to work against the best set of linebackers in the NFL. Expect Pettigrew to have less than 50 receiving yards against the 49ers.
IDP: DE Charles Johnson, Carolina Panthers (vs. New Orleans Saints) – Saints’ quarterback Drew Brees is not exactly easy to get to, so expect Johnson to have a rather timid outing on Sunday.
