It is now one-fourth into the NFL season, and slowly but surely, owners are starting to weed out which players are legit or not.
For instance, it’s safe to say Redskins QB Robert Griffin III is continuing to demonstrate the value of dual threat quarterbacks, rookie or not. He is the top ranked player in fantasy, but little does he know that he’s being followed closely behind a certain QB in Atlanta.
QB – Matt Ryan
That guy that you see in the picture above is the front runner for league MVP with his eight touchdowns to one interception. His Falcons are 3-0, and they will be 4-0 after they are done dismantling the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have allowed 31.5 points to two elite QBs in Eli Manning and Drew Brees. Ryan is on fire to start the season. He’s playing at a level beyond every quarterback thus far. You can bet the Falcons know nobody from the Panthers secondary can cover the weapons of Roddy White, Juilo Jones, and age-less Tony Gonzalez.
RB – Maurice Jones-Drew
So it only took three games for MJD to look like himself. He demolished the Colts with 177 yards rushing, and it appears it’ll only get better against the Bengals. Apparently, they have the second worst run defense, statisically, allowing 155 yards per game. The Bengals have dealt with Ray Rice and Trent Richardson already, and it didn’t go so well with them. You know what that means?
RB – Adrian Peterson
Peterson is still recovering from his ACL injury; I get that. The last two weeks have been less-than-stellar performances, granted, last week, the Vikings faced the 49ers. Lack of production was to be expected, even though he reached double-digit fantasy points. He should explode against the Lions, who he has an average of 99 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in nine meetings against them. Time to turn the beast loose.
WR – A.J. Green
Andy Dalton has been lighting it up through the air, and much of it is cause of this guy. The speedy deep threat has caught a touchdown in his last two games against questionable secondaries. This week’s match-up is no different.
WR – Vincent Jackson
The Buccaneers are facing the Redskins this Sunday, a team that Green just lit up last week (9 catches, 183 yards, TD). The week before that, Rams WR Danny Amendola had a career game. See the trend here?
TE – Owen Daniels
This is tricky because the Texans may be inclined to run the ball even more than they already have – especially after what happened to Matt Schaub last game. If they mix it up offensively, expect Dainels to be a main target. Not to mention, the Titans have allowed the most fantasy points to tight ends (18.0). That’s a clear weak spot.
Flex – Arian Foster
So as I just aforementioned, the Texans have been a run heavy offense this season. Foster has carried it no less than 25 times, and each time he has gotten 100 yards rushing or a touchdown. The Titans are charitable towards tight ends. But apparently, their defense abides by the motto “the gift keeps on giving,” as they have allowed 25 fantasy RB points…..per game.
D/ST – Seattle Seahawks
Let’s just forget what happened at the end of the Monday Night Football game for a second. America witnessed how relentless the Seahawks defense is, sacking Aaron Rodgers for an unprecedented eight times in the first half. The Rams are an improved football team, but their offensive line continues to be shaky. Sam Bradford will be forced into turning over the football as he did against the Bears, last week.
K – Matt Bryant
The Falcons will easily be moving down the field, but Ryan won’t be able to convert seven points every time.
