Tournament: Valero Texas Open

Date: Thursday, April 4th-7 2013

Location: JW Marriott, TPC San Antonio – San Antonio, TX

Past Winners: Ben Curtis (2012), Brendan Steele (2011), Adam Scott (2010), Zach Johnson (2009), Zach Johnson (2008), Justin Leonard (2007), Eric Axley (2006), Robert Gamez (2005), Bart Bryant (2004), Tommy Armour III (2003), Loren Roberts (2002), Justin Leonard (2001), Justin Leonard (2000)

Overview:

The 2013 Valero Texas Open is another tournament without some of the bigger names on the tour, mainly Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Keegan Bradley, and Brandt Snedeker.

However, the one big name that will be attending the event is Rory McIlroy. Rory was a very late addition to the field, but the former number one ranked golfer in the world needs to get back on his game. Expect to see McIlroy almost every weekend until he starts playing some solid rounds of golf.

Like most tournaments, there will be a large number of sleepers in this one as well. Lesser-known golfers like Charlie Wi, Brendon de Jonge, Jimmy Walker, Billy Horschel, and Cameron Tringale will all be great fantasy options to look for outside of the big names. Just because the player may not be in a Nike commercial, doesn’t mean he can’t have a solid fantasy round.
