When you think of the top running backs in the NFL, whom do you think of?

For obvious reasons, names like Adrian PetersonArian FosterRay RiceJamaal Charles and Marshawn Lynch seem to top those lists. Well, I’m here to tell you that in 2013, you should really consider adding the name LeSean McCoy to your list of top running backs. That is, of course, if he isn’t there already.

For those of you who are familiar with “Shady” McCoy, you know that this guy has the ability to be a game changer. He can single handedly keep the Philadelphia Eagles in games and is truly an underrated commodity in the Eagles offense, if you ask me.

Since coming into the league McCoy has improved his numbers every year, highlighted by his 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2011. Last year, however, was a down year for McCoy, which really burned fantasy owners who took him very early in their drafts. In McCoy’s’ defense though, he was hurt and the entire Eagles’ offense was pathetic to say the least.

In 2013, the Eagles will be deploying a new up-tempo offense under the tutelage of new head coach Chip Kelly and McCoy is being projected to have a big year. I’m drinking the Kool-Aid, especially because McCoy is a threat in the passing game and because he’s destroyed the division with his 92.7 rushing yards per game average.

At 25-years-old, McCoy still has a lot of football left in him, barring injury. It would not surprise me if he were a top five running back in 2013. I’m predicting 1,100 yards rushing, 12 rushing touchdowns, 400 yards receiving and 4 receiving touchdowns for McCoy in 2013.
