Lamar Miller played in only 13 games last season for the Miami Dolphins. He had 51 carries for 250 yards and one touchdown. Entering his second season in the NFL, Miller looks like he will get much more playing time this season.
With Reggie Bush leaving via free agency, the Dolphins have a ton of carries to replace. Daniel Thomas is the only other viable option on the roster and he has been very disappointing during his time in Miami. The writing is on the wall for Miller to be the featured back of the Dolphins.
Miller is a very talented runner. He has great speed and quickness to the hole. Miller has always shown great vision as a running back and is a good receiver out of the backfield. The talent is definitely there. His speed and athleticism make him a viable option to score from any part of the field. He is a great talent that is just waiting for his opportunity.
I think the Dolphins’ passing game will be much-improved this season. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill is a year older and wiser, and Miami brought him in some nice weapons to throw to like Mike Wallace and Dustin Keller. The passing game should help open up holes for Miller to run through.
This is pretty much all based on projection, so Miller is a bit of a risky pick. That being said, the upside is huge and he is currently not being taken until the fourth or fifth round. Miller is an athletic running back who will likely get a chance to be the featured back. I will take the risk and have Miller’s huge upside on a ton of my teams this year.
