Oh, Felix Jones, oh how you have burned me in the past! I thought your name was gone forever from my fantasy football mind, exiled to that place in my brain where I keep my worst ex-girlfriends. However, on Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired Jones from the Philadelphia Eagles. This trade is to try and give the Steelers more depth at the running back position. The problem here is that the Steelers do not have one starting running back on this team, except for Le’Veon Bell, who is currently out with a mid-foot sprain.
If you are thinking to yourself, “Should I grab Felix Jones up as a person I can start?” don’t even think about this idea! Felix Jones may work out “okay” for the Steelers until Bell returns. Jones is a decent pass catcher out of the backfield and under offensive coordinator, Todd Haley, the team has more of a “dink and dunk” type offense. Felix may catch a few balls out of the backfield, but do not expect him to run between the tackles on this offensive line.
If you are desperate for a flex player due to injuries, than you MAY get a few points from Jones, but do not expect him to be the free agent find you will need this year to win your fantasy league. If you depend on him to do that, then I will speak for the rest of your league by saying, “Sorry, but thanks for playing!”
