The flex play is a position that is changing for most teams from week to week. During bye weeks, this position becomes not only very difficult to fill, but very important in regards to winning your match for the week. For Week 6, I have three receivers that you can play who will give you some solid points in your matchup.
DeAndre Hopkins – In Week 2, fantasy football managers were going crazy over Hopkins. Many managers figured that he would greatly benefit from playing opposite of Andre Johnson. However, the Houston Texans’ offense and quarterback Matt Schaub have looked very bad. This has caused Hopkins’s value to drop.

In the past two weeks, the Texans have played the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers. These teams have top defenses and really shut down Hopkins. For all of you that kept Hopkins around, good job because he will help you out this week. The Texans will play the St. Louis Rams this week, and look for Hopkins to pounce on the opportunity to run wild against this shaky team.
Steve Smith – The Carolina Panthers have focused on running the ball so far this season. This has hurt the value of the Panthers’ receivers in all fantasy leagues. This week, the Panthers will play the one-win Minnesota Vikings. In the Vikings’ last game, they gave up 383 yards in the air to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now, none of the receivers on the Steelers are better than Panthers receiver Smith. Smith has been held to just one touchdown this season and has no games with over 100 yards. Look for Smith to have a big game against the Vikings, scoring a touchdown with about 80 yards through the air.
Keenan Allen – Over the last two games, there has been one wide receiver that has been on the rise for the San Diego Chargers, and that person is Allen. The revival of quarterback Philip Rivers and the new offensive scheme has made players from the Chargers worth taking a look at in fantasy football.
This week, the Chargers will play the Indianapolis Colts. The good thing about this is that the Chargers will have to throw the ball to stay in this game. Look for Eddie Royal and Antonio Gates to get the looks in coverage, leaving Allen wide open to have a day. Look for Allen to add onto his Week 5 performance and help your team out in the flex position.
