Fantasy Football Debate: Andre Brown

Jim O’Conner – USA TODAY Sports

When Andre Brown went down in the preseason, it had every David Wilson owner fist pumping with excitement. Unfortunately, Wilson soon managed to fumble and bumble away his job as the New York Giants featured running back. A dubious neck injury has seemingly put Wilson’s season on hold. DaRell Scott and Brandon Jacobs have under whelmed in their attempts to shoulder the load. Newest addition, Peyton Hillis, has slightly stiffer moves than RoboCop dancing a soft shoe routine.

Brown is reportedly in game shape and due back in short order after the Giants’ Week 9 bye. All metrics point to Brown taking on the role of featured back for the Giants. Brown is an excellent pass blocker who will take some of the pressure off of Eli Manning on all three downs. He has the moves to make guys miss on the outside and the size to plow one in at the goal line.

Wilson is supposed to be re-evaluated in the next week to see if he can come back this year from his neck injury. The reality is that he never really made it out of head coach Tom Coughlin’s dog house, and this is Brown’s job to lose.

If you find yourself in the middle of the fantasy season with bleak hopes of making the fantasy playoffs, I would move now to grab Brown while his bye week has him off of the fantasy radar.
