This week of fantasy football may be one of the toughest and most aggravating for any fantasy football owner. If you have some big name receivers like Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Calvin Johnson and Justin Blackmon, then you are going to have some serious questions in Week 9. That means that flex position and the WR2 position will be the biggest question marks for any owner this week. Here is my list of three guys that are great starts at the flex position this week. If needed, I also feel that these guys could be great starts at the WR2 spots as well.
Kendall Wright:
If there is one person in particular that is very happy that Jake Locker is back as the Tennessee Titans quarterback, that person is Kendall Wright. Other than Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wright has had a solid fantasy season. Wright has not put up Calvin Johnson numbers, but who has? He is slowly developing into the receiver that the Titans thought he would be when they drafted him. In Week 9 against a very good San Francisco 49ers defense, Wright had his best game of the season. After resting and working on things during his bye week, look for Wright to be used and really relied on against a solid Seattle Seahawks defense.
Alshon Jeffrey:
For the past couple of weeks, I have been on the Alshon Jeffrey fantasy football train like tickets are going quickly! How can you not like the guy who lines up across from Brandon Marshall? Jeffrey has had some great fantasy weeks this season, and then usually backs it up with a sub-par performance the week after. This week, his Chicago Bears will be taking on a Green Bay Packers pass defense that has been subject for many weeks of the season. With Marshall being the main focus of the Packers’ defense, look for Jeffrey, and now starting Bears’ quarterback Josh McCown, to hook up a lot on Monday Night Football.
Darrius Heyward-Bey:
When Reggie Wayne went down with an injury in the Indianapolis Colts last game against the Denver Broncos, many Colts fans, as well as many fantasy owners, didn’t know what to do to replace him. If you haven’t done so already and you can still get him, pick up Darrius Heyward-Bey off of the waiver wire. If you did, good job! He is definitely worth a flex play consideration in Week 9 against the Houston Texans. Look for T.Y. Hilton to get most of the attention, and for Heyward-Bey to get many favorable matchups in this game and moving forward. I can see Heyward-Bey getting seven catches in this game and definitely scoring a touchdown.
