Looking at the stats from Chicago Bears DE Julius Peppers in the early part of the fantasy football season, some were starting to loose faith in the veteran defensive end. The eight-time Pro Bowler had just one sack through the first seven games and he was seemingly starting to look his age.
Over the last month, though, Peppers has been in vintage form. He has respectfully tallied three sacks and an interception over his last three contests alone. He is coming off his best performance of the season versus the Baltimore Ravens, in which the defensive end finished with a team-high 11 tackles. He also had two sacks in the game, which matched his previous season total.
Chicago lost both of their starting linebackers in D.J. Williams and Lance Briggs, but Peppers has certainly stepped up in their absence. He is having much more of an impact against the run and his 11 tackles from last game can certainly attest to this.
The defensive end has been able to get off the line much quicker and it has helped him shed those pesky double-teams that constantly seem to find him. He is healthy for the first time in years, and while he may not be in his prime, he can still athletic enough to drive opposing quarterback crazy.
Peppers will be a great defensive lineman to ride through the fantasy playoffs this season and he should average around a sack per game.
