In fantasy football IDP leagues, the difference between winning and losing a playoff matchup often comes down to defensive stats. Every team in the playoffs has offensive players that can score at will, but the guy that will be holding the trophy in the final week of the season will likely get some huge performances from a couple IDP options.
One of these guys to lean on this year in the fantasy playoffs is Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt. The three-year pro is coming off a season in which he led the NFL with 20.5 sacks, and he has been absolutely impossible to contain in recent weeks.
The 2012 Defensive Player of the Year has racked up five sacks in his last four games alone. He has also forced three fumbles during that stretch. Watt started pretty slow, by only totaling 3.5 sacks through the first six games, but he has more than made up for it lately. He is heating up at the perfect time for fantasy fans and is primed to explode in the fantasy playoffs this season.
Watt will be good for at least a handful of points each game moving forward and will be an elite IDP option once the playoffs come around in Week 14. The former Wisconsin standout can thrive in any type of weather and will do everything possible to help fantasy fans reach the next round. If you have Watt anchoring your defensive line this year, get ready for some serious stat lines over the next month.
