The fantasy basketball season is moving right along and we are already entering Week 4 of the 2013 season. Some fantasy stars are really starting to heat up, while others are still not quite in midseason form. To help you get caught up to speed, here are my top notes from Week 3 of the fantasy season.
Hot Hands:
PG Jeremy Lin, Houston Rockets – Despite questions regarding his spot in the starting lineup, Lin had a huge showing in Week 3. The point guard averaged 25.5 points in the team’s four games and added an astonishing 13 three-pointers. He is clearly the best fantasy point guard in Houston.
C Jordan Hill, Los Angeles Lakers – Hill absolutely exploded this past week for fantasy owners. He averaged 18.8 points with 12 rebounds per game and the youngster proved that he deserves a roster spot.
C Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons – Drummond grabbed 61 rebounds in four games last scoring period, while averaging 15.3 points per game. He is maturing into a superstar fantasy option in his first season and will be a must-start in all formats moving forward. Turns out those Shaq comparisons weren’t so far off after all.
Struggling Stars:
SG Dwayne Wade, Miami Heat – Wade posted a steady dose of boards (5), dimes (5.3), and steals (3.3) last week, but the shooting guard simply couldn’t score. He averaged just 9.7 points over the team’s three games, while shooting an embarrassing 41.6% from the charity stripe and 42.8% form the field.
PF Joakim Noah, Chicago Bulls – Noah averaged a typical 10.7 points per game last week, but he only grabbed only 7.3 rebounds per contest. This is a long way from the 11.1 rebounds Noah grabbed last season and the drop in production has caused some owners to start to panic.
Injury Bug:
C Brook Lopez, Brooklyn Nets – Lopez injured his ankle this weekend. There is not much news out there about the injury just yet, but he will miss at least a couple more games.
PG Michael Carter Williams, Philadelphia 76ers – After a huge opening week, MCW missed most of this past week with a bruised foot. All reports have the rookie missing at least one more week of action.
PG Steve Nash, Los Angeles Lakers – Nash has once again been sidelined with a back injury and the aging star is expected to miss at least another week or two.
SG Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers – Kobe is finally practicing and the Black Mamba could be making his 2013 debut very soon for fantasy owners. For now, though, he remains on the pine.
SG Lance Stephenson, Indiana Pacers – Stephenson missed time this past week with a sprained foot, but he should be back in the middle of the week.
