First off, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there. Week 13, the final regular season fantasy football game for most leagues, kicks off with three games. However, injuries to star players impacted the value and excitement for some of these games.
There is one game on Sunday that many fantasy owners and fans are looking forward to — Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs. These two teams played in Week 11 in Denver and the Broncos handed the Chiefs their first loss. This week, the Chiefs are looking to get some revenge.
This season has been plagued by injuries to superstar players. Arian Foster, Aaron Rodgers and many others have impacted teams. Let’s add one more to that list – Knowshon Moreno. He had a spectacular performance in Week 12, rushing 37 times for 224 yards and a touchdown. After the game, reports surfaced that Moreno left the game on crutches and is dealing with an ankle bruise.
Right now, Moreno is day-to-day and interim coach Jack Del Rio said the running back situation is “cloudy.” If Moreno can’t go on Sunday, Montee Ball will most likely be the lead running back with C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman getting some touches as well.
In the Week 11 game, Ball played pretty well. He had eight carries for 25 yards and two touchdowns. The following week, he had 10 touches for 57 yards, but a fumble cost him playing time. The Chiefs’ defense have allowed 15 fantasy points to opposing running backs, 16th in the league. Over the last two weeks, the Chiefs gave up five touchdowns to running backs.
Ball has been added over 10,000 times in NFL.com leagues and is owned in 57.6 percent of them. If you own Moreno, keep close tabs on his status and add Ball as a handcuff just in case. If you don’t, pick Ball up anyway to secure yourself a starting running back, even if it is for just one week.
