2013 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: LW Nick Foligno

Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

There aren’t many players that have fantasy hockey value on the Columbus Blue Jackets nowadays. The team is near the bottom of the league in every category and have had problems beating the worst teams in hockey.

However, the team has a couple valuable bench options that deserve roster spots in fantasy. One of these underrated forwards is LW Nick Foligno. The left winger missed a week earlier in the year, as he was dealing with some personal issues, and the winger found himself on the waiver wire in a ton of leagues.

Foligno has recently picked up his game since coming back to action, though. He has racked up eight points in Novemeber, including seven points in the last 10 games of the month. He is getting much more ice time lately and the 26-year-old is showing that he knows how to fill a box score for fantasy fans.

The Buffalo native has been extremely active in roto-leagues. Over the last four games, for example, the forward has added 15 hits, two blocked shots, and 14 penalty minutes. Most roto-league formats account for these non-offensive categories, which only adds to Foligno’s ever-growing value. He may not have the best rating (+2), but he does everything else for fantasy owners.

Foligno is only owned in 19% of CBS leagues and he can be a valuable winger to plug in to any format. If he is sitting on the wire, it is time someone picked him up.
