Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Championship Week Quarterback Edition

Dalton

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

In both fantasy football and the NFL, it is all about the quarterbacks. Your team will truly go nowhere without that clutch starting quarterback. If you have made it this far in your fantasy football league, you know that what I am saying is correct.

Here in Week 16, fantasy football managers need a win to hoist up the championship in their leagues. There are many intriguing games this week that are going to allow many top quarterbacks to play to their fullest potential. Here are my quarterbacks to start or sit for Week 16.

Start: Andy Dalton

If there was one team that you want your fantasy football quarterback to face in this very important week, it is the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have been one of those defenses that have been letting up large amounts of points and yards to every offense. This week, Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals are up against this team and if you own Dalton, then you have to start him in this game. Dalton has been inconsistent at best for his owners. There are some weeks when Dalton blows up for a huge game and then he will throw a dud in the next. Don’t look for the dud this week, look for the huge game you need! I can see Dalton and receiver A.J. Green having a big game with Dalton throwing for over 300 yards and around three touchdowns. If you have Green on the same team, oh, you will really be happy after this game!

Start: Colin Kaepernick

If there is another teams’ defense that you want your quarterbacks facing in this championship week, it is the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons have been a joke this year and definitely not the team they were last season. In Week 16, the Falcons will be facing Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers at the last regular season game ever at Candlestick Park. Look for Kaepernick to call upon the legendary Monday night games from quarterbacks like Joe Montana and Steve Young. I am not saying that he will be these guys, however, if Kirk Cousins could throw for over 300 yards against them in Week 15, then I can see Kaepernick doing the same as well as scoring multiple touchdowns in this game through the air and maybe even rushing.

Sit: Matt Ryan

Since I am suggesting to all of you to start Kaepernick against the Falcons, then I have to say please sit Matt Ryan against the 49ers on Monday Night Football. Ryan has not been the quarterback all owners thought he was going to be this season. It hurt that he did not have Roddy White and Julio Jones for most of the season. He has had no running game really to help take the pressure off of him this season and I do not see any relief in this game against one of the best team defenses in the NFL in the 49ers. Look for Ryan to have multiple turnovers in this game as the 49ers are going to be hyped up for this last regular season game at Candlestick Park.

Sit: Carson Palmer

Here is one guy that has been playing very well over the last few weeks. Palmer has had a sudden resurgence in this second half of the season. However, in Week 15, Palmer went down with an ankle sprain and just started practicing again on Thursday. He is not the most mobile quarterback to begin with and that is not a good thing, especially going against the Seattle Seahawks‘ defense. The Arizona Cardinals depend on throwing the football to win games. Palmer will not be able to do this successfully, especially if Larry Fitzgerald misses this game due to a concussion suffered in Week 15. Look for Palmer to only throw maybe one touchdown and have a few turnovers in this game.
