Golden State Warriors C Andrew Bogut was once a popular big man in fantasy basketball fans, as the veteran seemingly put up a double-double every single night. However, he has been hampered by injuries in recent seasons and has become an afterthought on draft day. Bogut missed 70 games in 2011, and as if that wasn’t enough to deter fantasy owners from drafting him this season, he missed another 50 games in 2012. Bogut went undrafted in almost every format this year, and honestly, most fantasy owners imagined him eventually ending the first month of the season on IR.
Bogut has shockingly enjoyed a resurgent fantasy season, though, and he has turned out to be a very productive waiver wire pickup. The Australian has amazingly recorded double-digit rebounds in nine straight games and he has seen his rebound total slowly climb with each passing game. Bogut has now grabbed 12.5 rebounds per game through the month of December to go along with 8.2 points and a gaudy 1.8 blocks. These are stellar numbers, especially from a guy that was left off every cheat sheet this fall.
If you were lucky enough to get your hands on Bogut a couple weeks, don’t expect him to slow down anytime soon. He may not be an All-Star selection this season, but he is more than capable of giving fantasy owners 10 boards every game.
