When the 2013-14 fantasy basketball season tipped off, not many fans had faith in PF Derrick Williams. He was stuck behind PF Kevin Love on the Minnesota Timberwolves and the former Arizona standout was regularly receiving under 25 minutes per game.
However, Williams was apart of the big three-trade blockbuster last month and has now found himself in a much better situation with the Sacramento Kings.
Williams has recently been plugged into the starting lineup for Rudy Gay, who has been rehabbing from a nagging Achilles injury. Gay hasn’t been cleared to return to the court and Williams has really shinned since starting in his stead.
D-Will has averaged 14.5 points over the last four games to go along with a staggering 11.3 rebounds. He has even added four triples, two blocks, and three steals in his recent hot-streak. Williams has consistently added boards and his ability to hit shots from the perimeter has made him a valuable starting option this past week.
Williams is only owned in 27.8% of ESPN formats and can be a great waiver wire pickup for anyone looking for a forward. He will obviously be forced back to the bench when Gay finally returns in the next couple days and his numbers will take a minor hit, but Williams has shown enough to keep around as a reserve player. For now, consider to view him as a decent daily option while he is still occupying a spot in Sacramento’s starting-five.
