After gutting their team and loading up on first round picks, the Buffalo Sabres are easily one of the worst teams in the NHL. The team has no real identity and are completely lacking some true superstars on their roster.
Despite the team’s struggles, though, there are still a couple players filling out the box score for fantasy hockey owners. Probably the most productive player on the Sabs right now is veteran center Cody Hodgson.
Hodgson missed a good chunk of the first half of the season with a hand injury. He was on IR for several weeks and most fantasy fans simply forgot about the middleman. Since returning to action, though, Hodgson has been absolutely unstoppable.
Hodgson recorded an assist in his first game back against the Washington Capitals and quickly showed fantasy fans what they were missing. In nine games this month, Hodgy has racked up a staggering 10 total points. He has scored six goals and added three helpers. He has been firing the puck at the net much more, 22 shots on goal this this month to be exact, and his aggressiveness has helped Hodgson show up more in scoring column.
Hodgson will be a strong third center to start down the stretch this season. He is the primary facilitator on Buffalo’s offense, and while he isn’t an All-Star option, he is more than capable of contributing on a nightly basis for fantasy fans.
