When fantasy golf was just getting going a couple years ago, there were only a handful of golfers worth picking each week. Fantasy owners would fight over stars like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Davis Love III, Steve Stricker, and Ernie Els each and every week. No else came close to matching their win totals and everyone on the tour was basically worthless from a fantasy perspective.
After years of trusting the same aging veterans, though, fantasy golf fans can finally look to the next generation of golfers. The PGA has begun to see a major transition within the sport and there is major youth movement being led by Rory McIlory and Jordan Spieth. Instead of just three golfers ruling the fantasy rankings nowadays, there are over 15 quality options each week to take a shot on and it has done wonders for the fantasy depth in each tourney.
Let’s look at some of the stats from the young golfers tearing up the PGA right now:

In fantasy golf, it is all about the numbers and these veterans simply are not getting in done on a weekly basis anymore. The so-called superstars are falling well behind some of the young talent in the sport and the handing of the torch has already begun.
So while you pick your fantasy roster in the upcoming golf tournaments (including the majors) don’t be afraid to pick one of these youngsters to win it all. They are all sitting atop the PGA leader boards and are currently playing some of the best golf in the world.
