2014 Fantasy Football: 5 Reasons To Draft QB Matt Ryan
Last fantasy football season, Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan had a horrible season. He was drafted as a top-six quarterback in almost every format, but failed to live up to those expectations.
Ryan will has too much talent around him not to succeed, though, and the veteran seems primed for a bounce back season. So for those of you that still have football on the brain, here are five reasons to grab Matt Ryan in your 2014 fantasy football drafts.
5. The Running Game Will Be Rejuvenated
5. The Running Game Will Be Rejuvenated
Ryan threw a career-high 17 interceptions last year and it was partially due to the lack of a running game. The quarterback was constantly facing a light box, and the lack of weapons around Ryan caused him to force the ball more than he should have. The running game will improve with a healthy S-Jax in the backfield and the added running game will help Ryan be much more productive next fantasy season.
4. WR Roddy White Will Be Healthy
4. WR Roddy White Will Be Healthy
White didn’t miss a game for eight straight seasons, a stretch that spanned 128 starts. However, the 2013 fantasy season was a mess for White. He missed games with hamstring, ankle, and knee injuries. Fortunately, the veteran will return for the 2014 season and will give Ryan an amazing possession receiver to look for over the middle.
3. WR Julio Jones Will Be Healthy
3. WR Julio Jones Will Be Healthy
Jones is another Atlanta wideout that was hampered by injuries last season. He injured his foot in a Week 5 game and was forced to miss the rest of the year. He was having another monster season, as he hauled in 580 yards through five games, but the season-ending injury devastated the fantasy value of Ryan down the stretch.
Jones will fortunately be returning 100% healthy and he will instantly bolster Ryan's fantasy numbers.
2. Ryan Still Threw 26 TDs In 2013
2. Ryan Still Threw 26 TDs In 2013
Despite the lack of weapons, Ryan still threw 26 touchdowns last year and was tied with Russell Wilson for ninth-best in the NFL. Ryan also threw at least one touchdown in 15 of his 16 games. His numbers can only go up with the return of White and Jones to the lineup, so fantasy fans can expect to see Matty Ice throw at least 30 touchdowns in 2014.

Ryan shockingly also finished fourth in the NFL with 4,515 passing yards. He will be just as productive next fantasy season from a yardage standpoint and another 4,500-yard season seems guaranteed for Matty Ice in 2014.
