2014 Fantasy Baseball: 3B Nolan Arenado Will Have Breakout Season

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Third base occupies some of the biggest bats in fantasy baseball. Superstars like Miguel Cabrera, Evan Longoria, Adrian Beltre, and David Wright all hold down the hot corner and they have become mainstays in fantasy lineups over the years.

Among all the big names at third, though, there are some players that are primed to have a breakout fantasy campaign in 2014. One of these youngsters on the verge of taking the next step is Colorado Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado.

Arenado hit just 10 home runs in 133 games last season, but Colorado is where mediocre power-hitters go to become amazing power-hitters, so it won’t take him much more work for him to rack up over 20 dingers this season.

The youngster also finished with a lackluster .267 batting average, and which while it wasn’t All-Star quality, it was still a rather respectable number from a rookie hitter. More importantly, Arenado turned it up as the year went on, as he finished with a jaw-dropping .294 average (50-170) over the final two months of the season.

Arenado is worth grabbing after the top-10 third basemen come off the board and he is absolutely worth stashing away in dynasty leagues. He has a long career ahead of him and will only become more expensive as the years move on.

If you are looking for a fantasy baseball breakout option at the hot corner, go all in with Nolan Arenado in the 2014.
