Trending Up: Dee Gordon
Trending Up: Dee Gordon
As long as Gordon hits, he'll have a spot in the Dodgers' lineup, and as long as he's got a spot in the lineup, he should be an excellent source of stolen bases. Gordon is hitting .394 this season and has four steals to go along with it.
Trending Up: Melky Cabrera
Trending Up: Melky Cabrera
Cabrera saw his streak of consecutive games with a home run end yesterday at four, but he did manage to still go 2-for-5 with a run and a steal. Cabrera is now hitting .325 on the year with six runs, four home runs, five RBIs and a steal.
Trending Up: Emilio Bonifacio
Trending Up: Emilio Bonifacio
It's getting to the point where Emilio Bonifacio having a multi-hit game is as rare as the sun coming up. Bonifacio was at it again yesterday, going 2-for-5, which actually lowered his batting average to .500.
Trending Up: Masahiro Tanaka
Trending Up: Masahiro Tanaka
Tanaka has been as good as advertised through two starts. Tanaka was sharp in his Yankee Stadium debut, scattering seven hits across seven innings to go with three runs, one walk and 10 strikeouts. Tanaka now has 18 strikeouts in 14 innings to go with a 3.21 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP.
Trending Down: Tim Lincecum
Trending Down: Tim Lincecum
I was able to catch most of this start yesterday, and Lincecum just looked awful. In the first and third innings, he found himself in the exact same spot, runners on first and third with no outs and Paul Goldschmidt at the plate. In the first, Goldschmidt hit a bomb over the right field wall, and he almost did it again in the third, sending a sac fly to deep right field. Lincecum now has a 9.90 ERA to go with a 1.60 WHIP through two starts.
Closer Watch: Oakland Athletics
Closer Watch: Oakland Athletics
Jim Johnson was awful again on Wednesday, allowing two hits, two walks and two runs over just 0,1 innings. News out of Oakland is that Johnson has been removed as the A's closer for the time being and that the Athletics will move forward with a committee of Ryan Cook, Luke Gregerson and Sean Doolittle.
Closer Watch: New York Yankees
Closer Watch: New York Yankees
Shawn Kelley blew a save opportunity yesterday against the Baltimore Orioles and threw 30 pitches in the process. Kelley is still the favorite to close out games for the Bronx Bombers until David Robertson returns from the DL but due to the high pitch count and him pitching in three of the last four games, Kelley is unlikely to make an appearance if a save situation presents itself tonight against Boston.
Closer Watch: Detroit Tigers
Closer Watch: Detroit Tigers
The leash is still very long for Joe Nathan, but he's looked awful so far this season. Nathan gave up three runs yesterday against the Dodgers en route to his second blown save in three opportunities. Nathan currently has a 12.27 ERA and a 2.73 WHIP.
