Ranking the New York Giants Fantasy Options in 2014
The Giants finished with a disappointing 7-9 record in 2013 as they missed the playoffs for a second consecutive year. Much of the problem was an unsteady, and turnover prone, offensive attack that ended the season ranked just 28th in the league in total offense. However, there's some decent fantasy production to be had from the G-men in 2014. So, let's take a look at the Giants' top options in what should be a bounce-back offensive campaign.
5. WR - Odell Beckham
5. WR - Odell Beckham
The Giants selected this uber-talented speedster with their first pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Beckham managed an impressive 19.5 YPR in his final season at LSU, and will immediately have a chance to secure a top two or three WR role with the team. Eli Manning loves to chuck the ball downfield and may just hook up with this home run threat on a consistent basis, making Beckham an intriguing late-round fantasy pick.
4. RB - David Wilson
4. RB - David Wilson
Wilson was dazzling in college, but that has yet to translate into NFL success. After two less-than-stellar seasons as a pro, the former Hokie will look to return from a severe neck injury and prove he has what it takes to make an impact in this league. The talent is there for this guy to break through, and even with other RBs in the mix, a healthy Wilson could be a very productive member of the Giants, and fantasy teams, alike.
3. QB - Eli Manning
3. QB - Eli Manning
Despite 3,818 yards passing, the 2013 season was an unequivocal failure for Manning. His 18 TDs were a career low for a full season, and his 27 INTs led the league by a wide margin. With that said, we're still talking about a veteran QB with a track record for both real world, and fantasy, success. With the offensive pieces the Giants have added this offseason combined with a new OC, look for Manning to bounce back in a big way this year.
2. RB - Rashad Jennings
2. RB - Rashad Jennings
The Giants brought this 231-pounder in to be their horse this season. Though inconsistent, Jennings showed last year in Oakland that he has enough speed and power to be an effective back in this league. Jennings is a very capable receiver out of the backfield as well, and should chip in plenty as part of the Giants' passing game. This powerful back makes for a solid RB2, and can be had in the sixth round or later in fantasy drafts.
1. WR - Victor Cruz
1. WR - Victor Cruz
The top fantasy option on this Giants roster will look to rebound in a big way from his disappointing 2013. Cruz struggled at times to get going in the floundering New York offense last year, but with a new offensive scheme and new OC, a return to his past glory should be in the cards. Eli Manning is going to throw it around a ton once again this season, and the Giants' top wideout will assuredly be his favorite target on a weekly basis.
