10 Breakout IDP Candidates
In fantasy football IDP leagues, it is important to know which players are on the verge of breaking out. To help you identify some of these soon-to-be-stars, here are the top-10 breakout IDP options to look for this summer.
10. DT Aaron Donald, St. Louis Rams
10. DT Aaron Donald, St. Louis Rams
Donald has been turning heads in camp on a daily basis. The defensive tackle will instantly slide in between All-Pro ends Robert Quinn and Chris Long, which will give him plenty of one-on-one coverage in the trenches. Donald is a stout 288 pounds and he hits the gap with speed. Donald will be a surprise sack contributor in his first season.
9. LB Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh Steelers
9. LB Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh Steelers
Shazier is a physical specimen. He has a 42-inch vertical to go along with 4.38 40 speed and blazing sideline-tosideline speed. He will slide into the WLB spot and will instantly become a top-tier prospect in IDP leagues. Shazier will develop into a LB2 by the end of the season.
8. S Kenny Vaccaro, New Orleans Saints

The addition of ball-hawking S Jairus Byrd will allow Vaccaro much more freedom to play in the box. He will be able to rack up tackles this year and the young defensive back will be a dark horse candidate to crack the 100-tackle plateau.
7. LB Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans
7. LB Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans
Clowney has had IDP owners salivating for two years now, but there is suddenly concern surrounding the 2014 first overall pick. Luckily, Clowney walks into an ideal situation in Houston, as the rookie will see plenty of one-on-one coverage with J.J. Watt in front of him. Clowney will flirt with double-digit sacks in his rookie campaign, but he should at least be able to rack up eight sacks.
6. DE Ziggy Ansah, Detroit Lions
6. DE Ziggy Ansah, Detroit Lions
In his first professional season, Ziggy led all rookies with eight sacks. He will be looking to take the next step forward this fall, and if he can stay healthy, he will be a safe bet to rack up double-digit sacks. Ziggy will be one of the top defensive linemen to breakout this season.
5. LB Zach Brown, Tennessee Titans
5. LB Zach Brown, Tennessee Titans
Brown had six games last season in which he racked up at least eight tackles. He also added four sacks through the year. He will be moved to the inside linebacker position with a change of the team's defensive system and the youngster will rule the middle in Tennessee. Brown is one linebacker that is truly on the verge of a breakout season.
4. LB Nick Roach, Oakland Raiders
4. LB Nick Roach, Oakland Raiders
Roach finally received steady playing time in Oakland, and as a result, he put together a respectable fantasy stat line. He racked up 112 tackles, including 83 solo hits. He even posted a career-high 5.5 sacks. Roach will be much more involved this year, so fantasy fans can expect an uptick in his numbers across the board.
3. S Mark Barron, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
3. S Mark Barron, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The former Alabama standout racked up 88 tackles in 2012 and 89 more in 2013. Barron has yet to crack the 100-tackle plateau and the safety has yet to finally put it all together. Now under the tutelage of Lovie Smith, Barron should finally enter the realm of elite defensive backs.
2. LB Alec Ogltree, St. Louis Rams
2. LB Alec Ogltree, St. Louis Rams
Ogletree had a strong rookie season, even if it wasn’t talked about very much. The former Georgia Bulldog racked up 117 tackles with 1.5 sacks and one pick. He will be even better this season and will post the first of many 130-tackle seasons for fantasy owners.
1. LB Danny Trevathan, Denver Broncos

Trevathan shocked the world by racking up 129 hits last year. The addition of DE DeMarcus Ware will give the linebacker more freedom to roam the field and he will build on his monster 2013 campaign. Look for this to be the first over many All-Pro seasons from the former Kentucky star.
