Tight end Coby Fleener is well on his way to delivering some big numbers in his third season. So far during training camp and preseason football with the Indianapolis Colts, Fleener has shown glimpses of reaching his true potential in a thriving offense spearheaded by quarterback Andrew Luck. In a dual-threat tight end offense that the Colts plan to utilize a lot this season, expect to see Fleener light up the scoreboard for fantasy teams everywhere that are smart enough to land him.
It would be in the best interest of many to draft Fleener and make him either a TE2 or TE3 option. If his preseason performance is any indication of what is coming in the future, he will be produce some steady numbers over the course of the season. It’s expected the Colts will pair him up with fellow tight end Dwayne Allen and be able to throw off even the best defenses coming their way.
There are some questions about the health of Allen that could present an even greater opportunity for Fleener to become a main starter on offense. Keep in mind that last year as a backup and eventual starter when Allen did go down to a hip injury, Fleener hauled in 52 passes for 608 yards and four touchdowns. These are impressive numbers by Fleener who stepped up when his team needed it most and was a nice surprise last season.
Give Fleener some consideration as your fantasy tight end this season. While he might not put up crazy stats like some of the better options at his position, if you want a durable tight end who could be set for a breakout season, Fleener is worth the investment.
