Anyone that drafted Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning this summer in fantasy football drafts has very high expectations for the signal caller. He was drafted in the second round in most formats and naturally these owners won’t want to wait long before their QB starts posting MVP fantasy numbers.

Well, they won’t have to wait long for Manning to carry his weight, as he opens the season against his former squad, the Indianapolis Colts, on Sunday Night Football. Indy doesn’t have the best set of defensive backs, especially after losing their top defensive back in Antoine Bethea. Simply put, this unit has no chance of containing Manning in prime time.

Manning may be without one of his most experienced receivers, as WR Wes Welker has been suspended the first four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. However, Manning has plenty of other weapons in Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, and Emmanuel Sanders. The veteran won’t skip a beat without Welker and will instantly start moving the chains in Week 1.

Manning may not match his jaw-doppring seven-TD outburst from the season opener in 2013, but he should have no problem throwing 300 yards with two to three touchdowns. If you grabbed Manning early in the draft this summer, then you won’t have to wait long until he starts paying dividends.
