The Top 10 Duds In Week 2 of the Fantasy Football Season
If you played fantasy football this week, which i'm guessing you did, there was not a lot to like about this weekend's action. Week 2 featured numerous injuries to marquee players like A.J. Green, Jamaal Charles and Robert Griffin III as well as the suspension of Adrian Peterson. These 10 players were the biggest fantasy duds yesterday.
Note: Only healthy players were included in this list.
10. Jacksonville WR Allen Hurns
10. Jacksonville WR Allen Hurns
After scoring touchdowns on his first two NFL receptions last week, Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Allen Hurns was a non-factor against the Washington Redskins. Hurns was targeted six times but finished with just two receptions for 13 yards in a 41-10 blowout loss.
9. New England TE Rob Gronkowski
9. New England TE Rob Gronkowski
The Patriots easily dispatched of the Minnesota Vikings, 30-7, but it wasn't because of tight end Rob Gronkowski. Gronk was targeted six times in the game, but he finished with only four receptions for 32 yards.
8. Minnesota WR Cordarrelle Patterson
8. Minnesota WR Cordarrelle Patterson
The Minnesota Vikings were clearly affected by the deactivation of Adrian Peterson this past week, but no one was hurt more from a fantasy perspective than Vikings receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson was targeted seven times yesterday and finished with just four receptions for 56 yards. Patterson also did not record a rushing attempt against the Patriots in a 30-7 loss.
7. Washington WR Pierre Garcon
7. Washington WR Pierre Garcon
Pierre Garcon is clearly Robert Griffin III's best target, but when RG III left the game with a dislocated ankle, Garcon's fantasy stats took a plunge. Garcon was targeted four times yesterday, but he came up with only a single reception for 12 yards in the Redskins' 41-10 win against Jacksonville.
6. Atlanta WR Roddy White
6. Atlanta WR Roddy White
Atlanta's passing game struggled against Cincinnati, and the biggest dud yesterday was wide receiver Roddy White. White was targeted eight times, but he recorded just five receptions for 42 yards in a 24-10 loss.
5. Jacksonville RB Toby Gerhart
5. Jacksonville RB Toby Gerhart
Toby Gerhart has easily been the most disappointing fantasy running back after two weeks. Against Washington, Gerhart only carried the ball seven times and gained eight yards. Gerhart also had two receptions but for only nine yards. QB Chad Henne actually led the Jaguars in rushing with 17 yards as they were routed 41-10.
4. New Orleans WR Marques Colston
4. New Orleans WR Marques Colston
After committing a crucial late-game turnover last week against Atlanta, Marques Colston was figuratively invisible yesterday against Cleveland. Colston was not targeted during the game and his stat lines were filled with zeros in a 26-24 loss to the Browns.
3. Detroit RB Reggie Bush
3. Detroit RB Reggie Bush
The Detroit running game struggled all day against the Carolina front seven, and Reggie Bush had an awful day. Bush finished with only six carries for 26 yards on the ground and only two receptions for six yards in the passing game as the Lions fell to the Panthers 24-7.
2. Chicago RB Matt Forte
2. Chicago RB Matt Forte
The Chicago Bears had a miraculous comeback last night against the San Francisco 49ers, but Matt Forte had nothing to do with it. Forte finished the game with just 12 carries for 21 yards and five receptions for 15 yards. Jay Cutler was Chicago's leading rusher with 25 yards on five carries as the Bears won 28-20.
1. Seattle DST
1. Seattle DST
The Seattle defense and special teams unit is easily the best in fantasy football, but against the San Diego Chargers, the "Legion of Boom" laid an egg. Seattle gave up 377 total yards of offense, forced no turnovers and only had one sack against Philip Rivers in a 30-21 loss.
