It was only a couple of seasons ago that WR Miles Austin was an All-Pro fantasy football receiver with the Dallas Cowboys. He was a perennial 1,000-yard option and was consistently scoring over six touchdowns per season. Injuries have unfortunately ruined his fantasy value the past few seasons, and as a result, he went undrafted in a majority of formats this summer.
Now with the Cleveland Browns, Austin finally looks healthy. In Week 1, the veteran hauled in 30 yards on two catches. It was a rather unimpressive performance, but he still proved that he was completely healthy.
Luckily, the wideout had a much better performance in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints. He caught six passes for 44 yards and one touchdown. The increase in targets was likely due to the absence of TE Jordan Cameron, but Austin once again was on the field for almost the entire game. It was another promising outing for the 30-year-old.
Austin continues to build a rapport with QB Brian Hoyer and the wideout has quietly emerged as his number one wideout. He will never put up Calvin Johnson numbers in Cleveland, but Austin can be a low-end option to use as a spot starter in deeper formats moving forward.
Austin will be a decent pickup right now in all formats. He can have value has a WR5/WR6 for the rest of the season and deserves to finally be added off the waiver wire.
