With New Orleans Saints‘ starting running back Mark Ingram out with injury, Khiry Robinson will now receive an extended role in the back field to fill the void. Fantasy owners should not hesitate to take a flyer on the running back because he is a great value pick here in Week 3. The Saints will take on the Minnesota Vikings, in their home opener and they will look to pick up their first win of the season.
Last week the Vikings were dominated by the New England Patriots losing by a score of 30-7. Not only were the Vikings blown out, but the Patriots were able to run the ball with great success. The Patriots rushed for a total of 150 yards on the day and 101 came from running back Stevan Ridley. The Saints should find themselves in a similar situation against the Vikings in Week 3. The Saints are a much different team at home, and I expect this game to be a blow out in favor of the Saints.
Their prolific offense will be in full force on Sunday as they are looking to redeem themselves after two tough losses to open the year. The run game will be a factor all day long on Sunday and I believe Robinson will make fantasy owners proud. I can see this game being easily out of reach by the start of the second half in favor of the Saints, if that should be the case that will only mean more touches for Robinson in the second half.
Over Robinson’s short career, we have seen him produce when given the opportunity. Most notably, last season in the playoffs, Robinson was the hot hand in the back field for the Saints and received a solid amount of playing time in both of their games. In two playoffs games he rushed for 102 yards on 21 carriers with one touchdown. This guy has skills and I think they will be on full display in Week 3.
I can see Robinson rushing the ball around 20 times and racking up anywhere from 90-100 yards while finding the end zone at least once. This Vikings’ defense will stand no match for the Saints offense, especially since they are coming off back-to-back losses and are hungry for a win. Robinson will be a great play for all fantasy owners at the running back two spot, or even in the flex position. Robinson is also a bargain on FanDuel as he is only worth $4,700. At that price, he is a must buy because that will allow owners to go out and pick up several big names in Week 3.
If you are a fantasy owner and have Robinson on your bench, you must change that immediately. This is going to be the week that Robinson will make all the owners who drafted him in the mid to late rounds proud. Don’t miss out on what I feel is going to be a breakout week for Khiry Robinson.
