The Washington Redskins suffered a tough loss at the hands of their NFC East rival the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. The only thing equally “tough” was Skins’ WR DeSean Jackson’s ability to play through a painful shoulder injury and put up significant fantasy football numbers (five receptions, 117 yards, one touchdown). Although, Jackson didn’t get his vengeful victory over his former team, he did offer a nice slice of positivity for his fantasy owners.
Going into Thursday night’s matchup against theNew York Giants, Jackson is on the bubble for a start or sit play in most fantasy leagues. The only thing holding him back from being a fantasy starter right now, in my opinion, is his “questionable” status going into Monday. He was limited in practice Tuesday, which is a positive sign, but just to be safe, be aware of Jackson’s status all the way up until game time.
If all systems are a go for Jackson, then don’t hold back starting him as a WR2 or Flex. Jackson has owned the Giants his whole career scoring seven total touchdowns in 11 games. He has also averaged 75 receiving yards and almost eight targets per game against his division foe.
Last week, Jackson proved to be a deadly weapon for QB Kirk Cousins, hauling in an 81-yard bomb for a touchdown, adding a creative little dance for Eagles’ fans. Cousins targeted the speedy wide-out 10 other times throughout the day making him a vital asset in the Redskins’ offense. Expect more of the same on Thursday against the G-Men’s horrendous passing defense. They are ranked 28th in fantasy football against opposing wide-receivers. The favorable matchup makes Jackson a must start in fantasy football leagues. Trust me, with Cousins at the helm and a dangerous slew of weapons, the Giants will have a tough time keeping anyone in check. Go with Jackson Thursday night and you will be going into work Friday with a smile on your face.
Jackson’s Fantasy Football Forecast:
Six receptions, 78 yards, One TD
