10 Value Plays On FanDuel For Week 4 Fantasy Football
Finding value is critical in one-week fantasy-football matches on FanDuel. Oftentimes the stars produce similar statistics, so it's the team with the best bargain performances that will stand out. Here's a look at 10 value plays for Week 4.
10. Zach Ertz, TE, Philadelphia Eagles $5,600
10. Zach Ertz, TE, Philadelphia Eagles $5,600
Many will avoid Ertz this weekend against the tough San Francisco 49ers' defense, but in reality I believe it only increases his value. San Francisco is not built to shut down WR Jeremy Maclin wide, which will loosen up some space for Ertz over the middle as they pay more attention Maclin's way. A 75-yard, one-TD game is likely.
9. Buffalo Bills' Defense $5'100
9. Buffalo Bills Defense' $5,100
Buffalo's defense can force interceptions and sack the quarterback fairly consistently, and those are the two most important things to consider when choosing a defense. Against the Houston Texans, they forecast to take advantage of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's knack for throwing up passes for grabs and will pick him off twice minimum.
8. Niles Paul, TE, Washington Redskins $5,100
8. Niles Paul, TE, Washington Redskins $5,100
With Jordan Reed out, it has been Paul who has shined over the middle for Washington. The New York Giants' linebacking corps is not exactly the most prolific coverage unit in the NFL, and Paul will undoubtedly have the opportunity for a big game; expect 65 yards minimum and one TD.
7. Owen Daniels, TE, Baltimore Ravens $5,100
7. Owen Daniels, TE, Baltimore Ravens $5,100
Daniels is now exclusively the Ravens go-to guy at tight end with Dennis Pitta out with a hip injury. Many will avoid playing any offensive players against the Carolina Panthers, but QB Joe Flacco has relied heavily on his tight ends thus far in 2014 and Daniels will undoubtedly see enough looks to have a 60-yard game with one TD.
6. James Jones, WR, Oakland Raiders $5,300
6. James Jones, WR, Oakland Raiders $5,300
Jones has seen an incredible amount of targets his way under rookie QB Derrick Carr and this trend projects to continue all season. The Miami Dolphins' secondary is far from a juggernaut as currently constructed, and Jones undoubtedly has an opportunity to have an 85-yard, one-TD game, which would obliterate value at his price.
5. Jeremy Kerley, WR, New York Jets $4,900
5. Jeremy Kerley, WR, New York Jets $4,900
With Eric Decker banged up, Kerley will continue on the path he's been on thus far in 2014 and provide tremendous value. Kerley's a great possession receiver but can also make big plays and score. He could easily end up with eight receptions for 80 yards and a TD against the Detroit Lions, whose secondary is a smidgen suspect.
4. Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB, Baltimore Ravens $5,300
4. Lorenzo Taliaferro, RB, Baltimore Ravens $5,300
It was Taliaferro, not Justin Forsett, who had a big game last week for the Ravens and although the two should see similar workloads each week, it appears that Taliaferro is the better pure ball carrier of the duo, with Forsett excelling more in the passing game. The Carolina Panthers' defense is stellar, but it's not impregnable as the Pittsburgh Steelers pointed out in Week 3 on national television.
3. Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets $5,800
3. Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets $5,800
Ivory's been a bit of a pleasant surprise thus far in 2014. The Jets have no choice but to establish their running game against the Detroit Lions as QB Geo Smith has not looked good whatsoever, and is making too many mistakes. I project Ivory to run for 75 yards minimum and one TD in Week 4.
2. Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants $6,900
2. Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants $6,900
When Manning avoids turnovers, he can be a very productive fantasy QB, especially in favorable matchups. The Washington Redskins' defense is far from impressive and seemingly enjoys letting opponents back into games during shootouts. Expect Manning to have 250 yards and two TDs while avoiding interceptions.
1. Blake Bortles, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars $6,500
1. Blake Bortles, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars $6,500
Bortles made it into his first NFL game last week and threw for 223 yards and two TDs in essentially a half of play. This Week 4 matchup against the San Diego Chargers has shootout written all over it with San Diego's RB corps struggling and the team relying heavily on QB Phillip Rivers. It wouldn't shock me to see a 300-yard, two-TD game from Bortles in his first NFL start.
