In Week 4, the New York Jets will be at home hosting the Detroit Lions in a game the Jets really need with a tough schedule ahead for the next few weeks. The Jets’ offense has been pretty good this season in terms of moving the ball down the field, but one of their big-name acquisitions, Chris Johnson, has not lived up to the expectations.
Johnson had a very strong Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders with 68 yards rushing on 13 carries, and five catches for 23 yards with a receiving touchdown, which made for a very good week for fantasy football owners of Johnson. Since the very good Week 1 for fantasy football owners, Johnson has struggled in the Jets’ two losses.
Going against a poor Green Bay Packers’ defense in Week 2, Johnson only had 21 yards rushing on 12 carries, in a game that Johnson’s owners were probably expecting a lot more. Going against another poor NFC North defense in the Chicago Bears, Johnson struggled once again with just 34 yards on 10 carries.
Chris Ivory, on the other hand, has played very well. Ivory is averaging 5.8 yards per carry this season, and has done very well catching the ball out of the backfield. With Johnson playing poorly thus far, and Ivory playing well, Jets’ head coach, Rex Ryan has said that Ivory will be seeing more work.
Due to the Lions’ talented run defense, and the fact Johnson’s touches seem to be limited, Johnson is unplayable for fantasy football owners that may have thought he would have seen a resurgence with his new team.
