Fantasy Football Week 4: Tennessee Titans’ Kendall Wright Will Struggle

For fantasy football owners who thought Kendall Wright would continue improving after a solid 2013 NFL performance, they have been mostly disappointed to start the season. Through three games, the Tennessee Titans‘ wide receiver has notched only 121 yards and is on pace for less than 700 yards this year. With a shaky quarterback situation in Tennessee, do not expect Wright to get out of his funk in Week 4, even though he faces an Indianapolis Colts‘ secondary with some major holes.

Jake Locker’s status against the Colts is still up in the air after sustaining a wrist injury in Week 3 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. He was held out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday. Locker has been mostly unimpressive through three games so far this season, completing only 56.4 percent of his throws. If Locker is unable to give it a go, backup Charlie Whitehurst will be called upon; another quarterback unlikely to impress.

It is unfortunate that Wright has struggled so much early in the season, as a matchup with the Colts could have meant a big week for the wide receiver. The Colts’ defense has given up the sixth-most yards in the NFL this season. Indianapolis’ secondary has been nearly atrocious, allowing 276.3 yards per game through the air alone.

Even after considering the matchup, Wright simply cannot be counted on until he shows more consistency. On Sunday, expect the Titans to rely heavily on their running game with Locker or Whitehurst under center. Knowing that, fantasy owners must look elsewhere for production in Week 4 from their wide receiver position.
