Top 10 Fan Duel Value Plays For Fantasy Football Week 5

If you're in need of a cheap option on Fan Duel in Week 5 fantasy football, these 10 players are undoubtedly worth considering. While they are unlikely to overwhelm like a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck most weeks, you won't need them to as they aren't much of a significant sacrifice against your salary cap.

Gerhart has not looked great to start his tenure in Jacksonville with the Jaguars, but if you've read any of my columns this year you know how bad I think the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is. Most weeks I would pass on Gerhart, but expecting 75 yards and a TD this week is feasible and at his price that would be far exceeding value.

Dallas' defense started off the season in utterly putrid fashion, but they have looked better of late, particularly against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints last week. Against QB Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Houston Texans, who absolutely adores having two interception games, I'm loving the Cowboys defense to put up some points whether they win or not.
8. Nick Folk, K, New York Jets $4,800

Folk is a highly efficient kicker and the Jets offense is not very good -- so it stalls on plenty of drives outside the red zone giving Folk a fair amount of field goal opportunities. Against the Chargers, he will be kicking in perfect weather conditions, and a 50-yard field goal plus two other medium range to go along with it is highly probable this week.
7. Andrew Hawkins, WR, Cleveland Browns $5,300

Hawkins has been the most productive Browns' WR thus far in 2014 by averaging 11.6 points per game. Without Josh Gordon, the Browns don't have a ton of mouths who need to be fed right now in the passing game from the WR standpoint, so Hawkins' looks should continue. Six catches for 70 yards was the worst performance he's had this season, so eventually he will add his first TD to that stat line.
6. Austin Davis, QB, St. Louis Rams $7,200

Davis is a bit higher priced than I would normally recommend for a value play, but he's going to be productive most weeks. In his second NFL start during Week 3, he threw for 300 yards and three TDs, so I think expecting 250 and two scores is a fair assumption considering the Rams are going to be playing from a deficit more-often-than-not and in need of throwing. This will also lead to plenty of garbage time yardage.
5. Miles Austin, WR, Cleveland Browns $5,200

Austin has accumulated six receptions and one TD in each of the past two games, which is solid but he hasn't accumulated much yardage (51 highest) in any contest this season which makes playing him risky. He's highly TD dependent, but eventually he's going to accumulate 100 yards over six catches along with scoring and make you look incredibly savvy at his price. In related news, the Tennessee Titans' defense sucks.
4. Owen Daniels, TE, Baltimore Ravens $5,100

Owen Daniels is Baltimore's TE1 now with Dennis Pitta injured and will undoubtedly be productive from here on out. I thought he'd have a good game last week, but the Ravens were clearly determined to help WR Steve Smith embarrass his former Carolina Panthers squad, as it was Smith who had the huge performance. 60 yards and a TD would be the best I'd expect from Daniels, but that is more than adequate at his price.
3. Clay Harbor, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars $5,000

With Marcedes Lewis out, it's Clay Harbor that rookie QB Blake Bortles is getting acquainted with to start his career at tight end. Harbor was solid last week with 11 points on Fan Duel (eight receptions, 70 yards) and I'm thinking a repeat performance is far from unlikely as Bortles seemed to look for Harbor on many reads, especially as a security blanket on plays where he wasn't the initial first option.
2. Brian Quick, WR, St. Louis Rams $6,000

It's Austin Davis' job now at QB in St. Louis, and he seemed to be looking for Quick on every play in Week 2. The next week, he only made two catches, but did so for 62 yards and a TD. Whether he's racking up seven receptions and 100 yards, or 62 and a TD, he's going to be worth it most weeks at his price although it did recently increase.

Watkins has showed glimpses of brilliance thus far into his rookie season (Week 2 -- 117 yards, one TD) and he has the talent to make such a performance a fairly regular event. The Buffalo Bills made a surprising move by naming Kyle Orton the starting QB this week instead of E.J. Manuel, and according to Buffalo sports talk radio, the decision was largely based on Manuel's inability to use Watkins consistently. This will change under Orton.
