Top 10 Value Plays On Draft Kings In Week 5 Fantasy Football

If you're building a roster on Draft Kings this weekend and find yourself in need of an inexpensive option in order to make a move elsewhere, these ten players are undoubtedly worth considering. A few of them should be on your roster this week even if they were among the top-tier, but they're drastically cheaper.

10. Toby Gerhart, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars $4,800

Don't laugh: I do believe Gerhart will be productive this week, simply because the Pittsburgh Steelers defense is putrid. Expecting 70 yards and a TD appears to be a safe bet in what projects to be an extremely high scoring game.

9. Brian Hoyer, QB, Cleveland Browns $5,200

Hoyer threw for 290 yards and one TD in the Browns last game before the bye. His worst game thus far in 2014 was 204 yards with one TD pass. Expecting 250 yards and one TD every week is a fair assumption, and some weeks he's going to give you 300 and two and obliterate value. Although, even 200 yards and one TD is adequate for his near minimum price. Against the Tennessee Titans, whose defense sucks, he projects to have a stellar outing.

8. Dallas Cowboys Defense/Special Teams $2,500

I'm not certain that Dallas will win this matchup against the Houston Texans, but Ryan Fitzpatrick refuses to not throw passes up for grabs to anyone on either team who might want to catch them. Fitzpatrick undoubtedly has a passion for two interception games, which should lead to a good fantasy afternoon for Dallas' defense and make it worth a try, especially in GPP settings, if you can't allocate much cap space to the D/ST.

7. Brandin Cooks, WR, New Orleans Saints $4,700

It seems that the rookie speedster Brandin Cooks is going to be an undeniably solid value bargain play every week considering his price. I don't foresee him ever becoming a big time TD or red zone threat, but he's getting a ton of targets sent his way and should rack up seven-to-nine receptions every week for about 80 yards. In a one-point PPR format like DK, that is already exceeding value. When he scores a TD, it's all gravy.

6. Kyle Orton, QB, Buffalo Bills $5,000

The Bills made a surprising move by benching E.J. Manuel for Kyle Orton at QB this week and it's something that I believe you could take advantage of. I heard -- with my own two ears -- Buffalo sports talk radio hosts proclaim that a driving force behind this decision was Buffalo's front office folk being infuriated with Manuel's inability to utilize Sammy Watkins correctly. Orton will. Look for 250 yards and two TDs which is stellar at minimum.

5. Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, Indianapolis Colts $4,000

Bradshaw is flying largely under the radar in fantasy this season. Andrew Luck is using him similarly to the way the Chargers did Danny Woodhead, as the RB already has four receiving TDs. I wouldn't expect more than 60 yards rushing, but adding his 40-ish receiving yards every week makes him a top tier RB production wise when he scores touchdowns. In a one point PPR, his cap hit is robbery even when he doesn't hit pay dirt.

4. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Denver Broncos $5,100

Seeing Sanders' price this week undoubtedly shocked me at first glance. He's averaging 21.8 fantasy points per game, which is more than Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant who are both far more expensive. This is outrageous, but you should take advantage of until he either slows down his production, or his price skyrockets.

3. Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers $3,500

I'm a New York Jets fan, unfortunately. So take it from me; the Jets put on utterly embarrassing coverage showings against tight ends. Gates hasn't been great over the last two games fantasy wise but the week prior he scored three TDs over 96 yards against the Seattle Seahawks, whose linebackers are far more impressive than New York's. If you are in need of a near minimum tight end as a punt play, Gates appears to be your best option.

2. Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills $4,800

As mentioned earlier when discussing Kyle Orton, Buffalo's front office folk inserted him into the starting QB role in order to get Watkins the ball more often and in better scenarios. Orton has a tendency to lock in on his WR1 and will undoubtedly be trying even harder than he normally would to target Watkins because he'd probably like to keep the job. Something to the effect of six catches for 85 yards and a TD is likely.

1. DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans $4,800

Opposing defenses are taking Texans' WR Andre Johnson completely out of most games with impregnable coverage and instead forcing the turnover prone Ryan Fitzpatrick to look a bit further down field to Hopkins. He's is going to rack up six catches for 85 yards minimum and perform as a top-five WR if he scores a TD. Hopkins is currently averaging 17 FPPG which is more than A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas, who are both expensive. Take advantage.
