Calvin Johnson sure must be frustrated these days. The main wide receiver for the Detroit Lions has unfortunately been dealing with a nagging ankle injury that is hindering his season and impact on offense. When it comes to his fantasy football projection for Week 6 action against the Minnesota Vikings, there is valid reason to avoid starting him this week.

All signs indicate that the Lions will most likely sit their star receiver to finally give his ankle the necessary time to heal properly. It’s in the best interest of the team to sit him, and quite honestly missing a week to have him expedite the healing process is better than him missing many more weeks because it got worse.

If he gets the nod to play in this matchup, fantasy owners should still be wary of putting Johnson into their lineup since he won’t do much damage. For the past few weeks he’s been primarily used as a decoy and only been targeted only a handful of times being that the Lions are hesitant to increase his workload since he’s playing hurt.

Overall, the Lions have no other choice but to do the logical thing and just sit him. It would finally give him a chance to not play while worrying about seriously hurting himself and let his body naturally heal so he can be back to being the Megatron everyone is anxious to see on the field again.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Projection (if he plays): 3 receptions, 30 yards, 0 touchdowns
